Christian Spirituality in Counseling |
I seek to help clients integrate their own personal and spiritual beliefs into the counseling process. I would characterize my counseling as “spiritually sensitive”; I am aware of how integrated the body, mind, and soul are—healing cannot be experienced without a uniting of all of these. I am committed to, and hold as sacred, each client's perspective and prerogative follow their own inclination as they pursue their spirituality.
My own spiritual journey is distinctly Christian as I have experienced Jesus as gentle, faithful, and life giving. Healing has been found for me in dialing into my awareness and experience of my “true self” in proper perspective and orientation to Christ—my identity and inheritance secure in the selfless love and acceptance of Christ. Each year I mature in my identity as a therapist, I am evermore convinced that our spiritual health, whatever the faith background, is so wrapped up in our wellbeing it is fairly impossible to heal emotionally and relationally without it. There is a peace and assurance that, to me, seems critical…that you can have confidence that were you leave off in your strength, energy, resources….God takes up. And fills in all those gaps we fall short with. |
